Today, April 6, 2021 Bishop Robert M. Coerver released a surprising Official Statement regarding Planned Parenthood and the Lubbock Sanctuary City Ordinance. The Statement is available on the Diocesan Website and will be published in the South Plains Catholic.
It is time to take concerted action beginning with the May 1 vote on the Ordinance to ban abortions within the City of Lubbock. It is clear that the bishop cannot tell his people how to vote, but he encourages “Catholics and all citizens of Lubbock to get informed and exercise their right and duty to vote”. He concludes this surprising Statement with what might be interpreted as an episcopal exhortation – it is certainly an unexpected and highly unusual conclusion.
It is vital that we vote for this issue to make Lubbock a Sanctuary city for the Unborn I draw attention to my thoughts
I draw your attention the links below which clearly indicates that the rate of Sexually Transmitted Diseases has reached Pandemic levels and needs our urgent attention.
The root cause is the idea of promoting so called Safe Sex to our Teens in the School systems by the Abortion Industry Planned Parenthood.
This is indoctrinating our youth with a false sense of security as shown on the failure rate chart of Contraceptive devices.
The failures then feeds the Abortion Industry as it increases their market for abortions. It is crucial that we educate our youth especially the Teens on the virtues of Modesty, Purity and Abstinence at the highest level. This is the only fool proof way to eliminate Unwed Teen Pregnancies as well as the epidemic rate of STD Infections which in some instances can be life long as there are no cures for virus transmissions.
Additionally the spiraling annual cost to our Health Care system is out of control per CDC data and has reached $16 Billion.
One of many “JOYs” in life, is sharing with others the Grace of Jesus Christ, the Love of God and the Communion of the Holy Spirit. For me, the opportunity presented by the May 1, 2021 Vote “FOR” the Sanctuary City Ordinance is a path to sharing the Culture of Life. Sharing the Culture of Life is another of the many “JOYs” in life. After all, LIFE IS all about Grace, Love and Communion.
Bp Coerver Ran off like a thief in the middle of the day.”
When bishops are unwilling to fight for life, it falls to the laity to speak out against evil.
Since the social apostolate including political work is the job of the laity (Apostolicam Actuositatem), the bishop asked for this to be a “Lay Initiative” from the very beginning. In other words, the laity have already risen up and have been speaking out against this evil since the inception of the Sanctuary City initiative including protests in front of city hall from the beginning.
I am sorry that you were not aware of this basic fact. For months our laity worked daily to win the vote including thousands of phone calls to Catholic voters throughout the city, block walking, public speaking, writing, and working with the bishop to procure a Catholic clergyman to speak at the Get Out the Vote Rally” sponsored y Project Destiny and to draft a letter in which he identified abortion as murder and asked the laity to vote as well as assuring us all that he himself was voting yes for the ordinance.
Likewise, we have posted signs all over the city and i myself asked out team to place them on private property around all Catholic Churches throughout the entire City – all with the bishop’s blessing. So i hope you can see, Rose, that it is hard to process your assessment?
